I find that with time (at least 2-3 weeks) and consistent use, this is good at midly reducing new post-inflammatory dark spots. It feels gentle and the formula is nice meaning it feels good on the skin and spreads easily. There is a slight pleasant smell which is not overbearing in my opinion. I feel like this is a good introductory product to retinol for beginners. Or a good product if you have sensitive skin and already have other actives in your skincare routine. However, if you really want the most of what retinol has to offer regarding cell renewal, hyperpigmentation, aging... you would most likely need something stronger to see more dramatic/satisfying and faster results on new and older dark spots. I am mainly comparing this to vivier retinol products (0.3% to 1%) and they deliver faster + better results. The latest viver formula is not as spreadable though. Anyway, I will keep looking for an effective + enjoyable retinol formula since I am used to stronger retinols
