Off putting scent, no payoff, would not recommend

(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) I picked this up as a sample reward after seeing all the hype and the Allure Best of Beauty win, since I was looking for a new illuminator. Unfortunately, this didn’t work for me at all. First, the pump dispenses a decent amount, but the product has a noticeable scent that I found pretty off-putting. The bigger issue was how it performed on my skin. I tried applying it on my cheekbones over my cushion foundation, and instead of adding any glow, it actually seemed to break down my base and make it “melt” away in that area. I also didn’t see much of a visible glow—it kind of just disappeared once applied. It’s possible this works better under foundation or mixed in, but as a highlight on top of makeup, it didn’t deliver the effect I was hoping for. Overall, I’m disappointed and don’t really understand the hype. It might suit someone going for a very subtle, no-makeup glow, but if you’re expecting a noticeable highlight or planning to layer it over foundation, this may not be the best choice.

Favorite Illuminator

This illuminator is a must in my morning routine. Even if I don’t wear a full face of makeup, I use this to add that dewy glow. Does not peel under makeup and blends flawlessly.
