Is it supposed to smell like mildew?

I've barely used this because the smell is so off putting.

Not loving it. There’s an ingredient here that’s doing something very weird to my skin and I’m not sure what it is exactly. There’s very subtle redness on my lower half of my face but nothing too terrible but the big concern is that it’s not mixing well with one or perhaps multiple products I use and I find myself peeling around my brows and my hands have peeled so badly that large pieces of skin came off. I didn’t use for a few weeks and then tried again and then again with a cotton swab instead of my hands and while the hands aren’t peeling, there’s still peeling around my brows where it looks like I have dandruff sometimes and I’ve noticed slight bumps around my chin. I love the texture as it reminds me a lot of other more expansive essences which is why I keep wanting to like it but my skin doesn’t love it. So I sadly won’t be repurchasing.
