Eye stylus shadow sticks

I have used Ilia mascara (wonderful!) along with several other products over the years but I have to say the new shadow sticks, in my opinion, are terrible! The matte colors are difficult to evenly smooth across my eyelids and seem to be darker/lighter across the eyelid and the creamy sticks are too sparkly. The Cork color was my go to primary shadow when it came in the tube with the applicator. The other colors were very nice and easier to spread out across the eyelid. Two stars because your products are "clean", but after returning one shadow stick for another color I've given up and am just tossing the remaining three sticks in the trash.
