Clean + Planet Aware at Sephora means that a product has met the criteria for our Clean at Sephora program as well as our Planet Aware at Sephora program.

Clean at Sephora is our curation of brands with effective formulas that meet regulatory standards worldwide and avoid certain ingredients, such as parabens, sulfates, phthalates, and mineral oils.

Clean at Sephora products might contain both natural and synthetic chemicals, and Clean at Sephora brands are willing to offer transparency on product ingredients. Our Clean at Sephora standards are designed to align with regulatory standards worldwide and mean that Clean at Sephora products are made without:

• Phthalates

• Formaldehydes or formaldehyde-releasers

• Oxybenzone and octinoxate

• Hydroquinone

• Triclosan

• Coal tar

• Methylisothiazolinone

Planet Aware at Sephora focuses on four key sustainability related pillars that all Planet Aware at Sephora brands must commit to:

• Sustainable Ingredient Sourcing and Formulation - Brands that commit to sustainably source certain ingredients and develop formulas with a product's lifecycle and environmental impact in mind, including by not intentionally adding phthalates and chemical UV filters.

• Sustainable Packaging - Brands that reduce packaging waste where possible, aim to incorporate refillable, recyclable, and compostable packaging, and prioritize use of recycled materials.

• Corporate Commitments - Brands that strive to make efforts related to their environmental impact, including measuring and tracking their footprint and aspiring to reduce their environmental impact.

Consumer Transparency - Brands that provide certain information related to product environmental impact to help customers make informed choices on the products they choose, such as how to best sort and recycle product packaging.
