Must love oud...

Oud is an acquired taste. Some may find the note stinky. It's earthy and typically potent. It's not typically found in fragrances targeted at a younger crowd, nor do they care much for it. For those of us that are more mature, oud sometimes finds its place in our collection to suit certain moods, occasions, or settings. With that said, Dior Sauvage Extrait uses a Vietnamese oud that you'll either love... or not. I for one have nothing in my collection like this. Also, this isn't like the others in the Sauvage line. This could easily be its own fragrance. It's a more challenging wear than its predecessors. It's strictly for cold weather and I'd advise only 1-2 sprays, MAX. This will gas-out a room quickly if misused. Don't let that scare you. Just be an adult with how you wear this one. Less is more — 'more' will be nothing but cloying and off-putting. Maison Francis Kurkdjian perfumed this one and made it with complexities that shine through different phases of its wear. At first, it made me question where it was heading, but as it dried down, I found it to smoothen out and discovered the lavender and woods. You need to let this one wear you for some time to fully appreciate it. We're just about to approach the first wearable weather (Fall) since it's release. It's time to shine hadn't even been had yet. Soon... This isn't a safe blind-buy. Sample this one out and spend some time with it. Don't judge it on a warm day. It takes a distinguished nose to handle it. I for one think it'll become a regular in my Winter rotation.
