It contains coconut oil so use with caution!

I’ve been using Briogeo shampoos, masks and serums for years and one of my go to products that I always recommend to my friends is the scalp revival exfoliating shampoo. I purchased a holiday set of the scalp revival line to replenish my shampoo which included a full size of the scalp revival scalp oil. Sadly, this product did not work for me and resulted in a severe scalp fungal yeast infection after only one use. I used as directed and followed with a double cleanse with the oui detox shampoo to make sure the oils are really worked out of my hair but even with double cleansing with a clarifying shampoo, the oil was stuck to my roots and reeked of mildew immediately after coming out of the shower. When I blow dried, my scalp was a sticky mess and smelled really bad. It unfortunately created a biofilm of mildew smelling buildup on my scalp and roots that was resistant to a lot of over the counter treatments in subsequent washes even with salicylic acid, t-sal or ketoconozole requiring intense pharmaceutical grade liquid medications to break up. I’ve used a lot of oils on my scalp before and never had an issue with my scalp health. My hair is thick, healthy and I always blow dry it immediately after showering. I don’t know if it’s the combination of oils that really did not mix well with my scalp or what caused this but definitely patch test and use with caution. I was told to avoid coconut oil going forward as that might have been the trigger. I will say, however, the ends of my hair did feel very soft and shiny which is why I give it two stars because it did help at least the lengths of my hair. But, If you use this product, I advise caution using it on the scalp or I recommend using it strictly below the ears.
