Just sits on top of my skin and smears around.

I’m in my late 30s and on a major skincare journey. My skin has changed SO MUCH from my 20s! I’ve been looking for a lightweight moisturizer to help replenish my skin, especially at night, and thought I’d give this a try. My skin is sensitive, combination, has mild rosacea, and I have fine lines I’m desperate to iron out and plump up! This moisturizer has an interesting texture — it feels like spreading whipped silicone on? And a little goes a very long way to fully cover my neck and face. I made the mistake once of putting too much on, and the way it just smeared around my face without absorbing at all (and I’m someone who uses several serums and essences underneath my daily moisturizer) — it was as if I was applying sunscreen that wouldn’t dry down. Eek. After peeking at the ingredient list, it looks like Dimethicone is the culprit. It’s a silicone that helps provide slip and spread, but it definitely causes this moisturizer to “sit on top” and not fully dry down, especially since my skin is already well hydrated. As someone who wakes up with a rather oily face to begin with, I’m not sure how I feel about this. My skin feels soft and moisturized after using it, but it doesn’t pair well with my Laneige Water Mask on top (and I love my Laneige!). It just seems to take forever to actually absorb into my skin. I think this is more of a light, breathable occlusive, but it’s not really working for me, and for the price, unfortunately, I think I’ll have to try something else.
