Fine on the skin, but really unpleasant smell

I was really excited to try this kit, the reviews seemed pretty positive and I’ve used glow recipe products before, including the watermelon spray in the kit. But the smell; I saw two other recent reviews talking about it, so I’m thinking it’s an expired product issue maybe, and a more recent issue that prior reviews did not mention. Mainly the cleanser, the toner, and the spray smelled like burnt clay, which I do not remember the spray having this unpleasant scent when I tried it before. The products seem to do fine on my skin, but the smell is a negative part of the experience and even lingers in my bathroom throughout the day…
