Mature scent

I definitely should have smelled this before buying it, but all the good reviews made me think that this would be a great vanilla scent for fall. Unfortunately, after trying it on, it dries down as a very mature scent on me. I’m just going to save it to give it to my grandma for Christmas..

One of Phlur’s best scents 4.5⭐️

This review is based on my use of the sample of Vanilla Skin included in the Phlur Discovery Kit. I have the hair & body mist in this scent and was excited to try the Eau de Parfum. It did not disappoint. TL;DR: Creamy vanilla, neither sickly sweet nor gourmand. It's not overpowering or synthetic. There's a floral woodiness to it that I've not smelled before in other vanilla scents; it lends a coziness to the scent. A smidge of pepper and something woodsy sneaks in during the dry down to add a little more complexity to the fragrance. KEY NOTES (per the brand): * Top: Pink Pepper, Pink Apple, Sugar Crystals * Heart: Lily, Jasmine Petals, Cashmere Wood * Base: Benzoin, Vanilla, Sandalwood, Agarwood WHAT I SMELL: * The vanilla notes carry through from beginning to end. The opening is soft, sweet (but not cloying or gourmand), and creamy.  * It warms up a bit as it settles into the skin, picking up a little spice that I now know is likely the pink pepper and a hint of caramel.  * The florals in this one are soft, light, like many of the floral notes in Phlur fragrances and there's a hint of sweet woodiness to it that hangs on even as the florals fade away and the dry down on this begins to take root. * The vanilla in the dry down, while soft, is more complex than its counterpart in the opening - it's still creamy and woody, but less sweet. The caramel-like notes I picked up earlier is there again as well, though deeper, warmer, and less sweet than before.  FYI: * This has one of the longest wears of the Phlur fragrances I've tried. I can get 6-7 hours before needing to reapply, longer if I layer it over lotion or with the body mist. * Wears well on its own and layered with other fragrances, within and outside of the Phlur family.
